Decca Survey: 'The company'

All good websites are always "under construction" and this is no exception. Currently (amongst other things) I'm working on an article tracing the history of the Decca Survey company from its beginnings as part of Decca Navigator up to the present Fugro era. The information below is not complete; please see the appeal at the bottom of the page.

Company History

Here is a skeleton history of what I know so far (the sentences in quotes are trawled from the Internet):

1942 Decca Navigator Company created

1972 Decca Survey company created with head office in Leatherhead

"Decca Survey Limited, Kingston Road, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 7ND, UK"

1980 Racal acquires Decca

"Racal Survey, based at New Malden, Surrey"

2001 Thales acquires Racal Survey

"Racal Survey changed its name to Thales Survey, and began work on its new center sitting on four acres of land adjacent to Dyce Airport, Aberdeen."

200? Thales Geosolutions?

2003 Fugro acquires Thales Geosolutions

Present time: Fugro

Product Timeline

This is based on information I already have in my website.

  • 1960 Hi-Fix development began
  • 1963 Hi-Fix (Hi-Fix/3) launched
  • 1968 SeaFix features in the Decca Survey Catalogue- launched ??
  • 1973 Hi-Fix/6 launched
  • 19?? Pulse-8 launched
  • 198? Hyperfix launched
  • 199? Deltafix launched

I would be grateful if you can verify that the above is correct or add missing parts of the jigsaw; but also I'd be grateful if you could tell me about:

  • offices/labs/factories
  • people
  • products
  • life with the company; good times, bad times, anecdotes,

Plus of course any suggestions as to the sort of things you'd want to read on this page.

If you can help, please drop me a line at:
